New Year’s Day: A stroll on Walkhampton Common, Dartmoor
January: A camp at Shelstone Tor, looking across to Paul’s favourite – Blackator. Coldest camp of the year, but at least I finally got to visit the Slipper Stones.January: An early start on a crisp day walking from Upminster to GraysMarch: Binsey, a favourite fell, largely because of the view of the northern part of the Lake District……also location for the first art class of the yearMarch: A spot of painting at Blea Tarn. Later in the day I climbed High Rigg and met Robin (@blgpackinglight) for dinnerMarch: A section of the Cambrian Way from Ponterwyd to Mallwyd. 4 days of solitude and bogs in the relatively unfrequented area behind PlynlimonApril: A week in Northumberland taking in all the usual places including Hadrian’s WallApril: A 4 day backpack on Dartmoor’s south Moor with Paul. Final training run for the TGO ChallengeApril: home made dehydrated pasta bolognese. This year I started making my own dehydrated backpacking meals. This was a great success and I’ve not bought a commercial dried meal since.May: Bluebells. I’m not really much of a botanist, but I do enjoy seeing the swathes of bluebells in the woods this time of yearMay: TGO Challenge. Also my 100th wildcampJune: finding more gems in the Peak DistrictJuly: South West Coast Path – the cliffs at Millook. Loved the striations and folds in these Carboniferous cliffs. These inspired a set of 4 abstract paintingsJuly: Art fair in Pitsea, showing a selection of past worksAugust: Icebergs off the east coast of GreenlandAugust: Waterfalls in IcelandAugust: Geothermal landscape in IcelandAugust: Return to the Briksdal Glacier in Norway. Retreated significantly since my last visit in 2009September: My watercolour, “Cairngorm Glen” was featured in the “In the Frame” feature in the October edition of TGO Magazine.
