Eagle Crag

Well, I’ve called it art, but as you can see, I’ve still got some way to go before I’ll be at an acceptable standard.  This page is a gallery of sketches and paintings.  Copies are also embedded into the relevant blog posts and pages.

I took up sketching and watercolour painting in the hope of recording my walks in a more meaningful manner than simple photographs.  I’ve struggled to find classes that fit in with my work, and even then twice I;ve had courses cancelled at the last minute due to lack of participants.  So I’m largely self-taught, although I did manage a short course of classes when I took a few months off in 2011.

On my walks, I generally take a small A5-sized pad of watercolour paper, a set of watercolour pencils (Derwent Graphitint), a paintbox with space for 32 small pans (although I don’t use this many), 3 or 4 brushes and a small collapsible water pot.  This all fits into a small dry bag.
