Cath had returned home after just one night and the planned camp at Angle Tarn was modified to enable me to pick off some new Wainwrights. One of the hardest slogs up a hill I’ve ever done onto Hartsop Dodd. There were still patches of snow along the ridge leading to Caudale Moor. I reached Stony Cove Pike and found a spot a little way from the summit. The sun was starting to set as I finished pitching, and with bits of snow still remaining on surrounding fells, this was one of my most memorable camps, and certainly the camp of the trip.
