This year’s plans were disrupted by a new work contract coming along at the start of the summer rather than, as I’d hoped, the end of the summer. This curtailed walking plans somewhat and even more so when I found out how much time I’d have to spend working away in Edinburgh. Here’s a few pictures to illustrate the year along with the links to the trip reports and Social Hiking maps…
January – at the Outdoors Show. Highlights were talks by Kenton Cool and Helen Skelton, but otherwise the show wasn’t as good as in previous years.January – The first of a series of walks along the Thames, this one finding a lot more culture than I ever expected in Thurrock
April – a weekend on the Norfolk coast for a family wedding, some walks along the coast and some depressingly spartan accommodationApril – Part 3 of the Thameside walk: Stanford to Pitsea

All these reviews of the past year – I’ve read three today – has got me thinking I should do the same. Some great images here and interesting stories. Looking forward to viewing more in 2014.

For the most part some lovely photos. Not sure I like the look of that bog monster you found, though!
